Union Bank marks 50th workshop under Viyaparika Saviya Program

Union Bank of Colombo PLC conducted its 50th SME workshop under the Bank’s Viyaparika Saviya program in Chilaw recently. The workshop was attended by both existing and potential entrepreneurs from a wide spectrum of enterprises. Union Bank Director/Chief Executive Officer Anil Amarasuriya, Chief Operating Officer Nilanth de Silva and a number of distinguished invitees were present at this milestone event.
The program was conducted by Senior Lecture - Wayamba University Dr. Aminda Methsila Perera and KPMG Director Sanjaya Perera.
Union Bank’s Viyaparika Saviya free advisory service helps SMEs manage their business operations and also provides a platform for entrepreneurs to exchange business information. The workshops address areas of entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, information technology, process management; human resource development and interactive education sessions are also made available to support the varying needs of SMEs.
In September, Viyaparika Saviya workshops were also conducted in Kebithigollewa, Horana and Marawila to add value to the SME sectors in this area and help entrepreneurs develop the right environment to sustain long lasting business partnerships.
Union Bank continues to strengthen its focus in the SME sector and deliver enhanced financial solutions to small and medium businesses. The bank’s expansion is honed and specifically geared to grow the SME and retail portfolio and complement its vision of becoming the preferred bank for SMEs.
