Union Bank of Colombo PLC has come forward for the third consecutive year as the principal sponsor of the Industrial Excellence Awards. This is an initiative of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium Industries (SLCSMI) to recognise and reward the outstanding performance and business success of small and medium industrialists across the country.
Union Bank is one of Sri Lanka’s top five private commercial banks in market capitalisation and places great emphasis in the development of the Small and Medium Enterprise segment in the country. In 2014, Union Bank was awarded the title of Best SME Bank Sri Lanka by Capital Finance International for its valuable contribution to support the SME sector.
“We are pleased to partner the SLCSMI for the third consecutive year to sponsor the 2015 Industrial Excellence Awards,” stated Union Bank Director/CEO Indrajit Wickramasinghe.
“The event provides a platform for small and medium entrepreneurs to demonstrate their business success and enables them to leverage on an opportunity that will support them advance to even greater heights.”
SLCSMI President Mohideen Carder stated, “We are proud to have Union Bank join us for another term as the Principal Sponsor of the 2015 Industrial Excellence Awards. We anticipate an overwhelming response from participants this year as well and with the support of Union Bank’s branch network, we will be able to reach entrepreneurs across the country and offer them the opportunity to participate in this national award.”
The event has been held for eight consecutive years and has recognised business success of entrepreneurs from diverse industries. Applications for the Industrial Excellence Awards will be available at all 62 Union Bank branches island wide and the SLCSMI office in Colombo. Applications can also be downloaded from the Union Bank website. Closing date for applications will be 30 September.
The winners will be adjudged by a panel of representatives from the Board of Investment (BOI), Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), Ministry of Industry and Commerce, University Body and Union Bank of Colombo PLC.
Awards will be presented under the categories of Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. There will also be special provincial awards and a Union Bank customer award.
