Since its inception, Union Bank has been synonymous for technology innovations in the banking industry in Sri Lanka with the launch of many technology driven products including the launch of internet banking in Sri Lanka.

Adding yet another feather to its collection, Union Bank was awarded the Bronze title under the ‘In-House Applications Category’ at the recently-held National Best Quality ICT awards 2012. This award was presented to the bank for its recently launched IT innovation – Union Bank TV Banking.

The National Best Quality ICT Awards recognise individuals and organisations for their outstanding contribution to the developments in the ICT Industry in Sri Lanka. This platform provides the opportunity for local ICT products and services to compete in the international market place.

Rajeev Munasinghe, Assistant Vice President – Information Technology of Union Bank stated that Union Bank pioneered the TV banking concept which was launched this year in partnership with SLT PEO TV, bringing banking convenience even closer in the comfort of your home, providing customers 24/7 accessibility to a host of banking services including balance inquiries, utility bill payments, fund transfers, viewing of personal assets and liabilities, fixed deposit detail, and password changes.

Union Bank has evolved as one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing banks, focusing on the Small and Medium Enterprises and the retail sector, offering its customer segments a range of comprehensive financial solutions to support the development and growth of these sectors.

Union Bank’s focus on the SME sector gives the bank an edge in a competitive market as a bank small enough to offer flexibility to the growing needs of the SME customers and large enough to fuel their growth to greater heights. The bank is forging ahead as a key player in the banking industry in Sri Lanka and has a branch network of 36 branches.
