Veteran businessman Upali Dharmadasa assumed office as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd. (SLIC) yesterday amidst simple ceremonial rituals.
SLIC said Dharamadasa is a high profile industrialist who has made his mark among the country’s top business community and brings with him many decades of business management experience and expertise.
Dharamadasa currently holds the positions of Managing Director of Nawaloka Group of Companies which consists of Nawaloka Piling Ltd., Nawaloka Timber Stores Ltd., Nawaloka Polysacks Ltd., Nawaloka Industries Ltd., New Nawaloka Trading Co. Ltd. and Nawaloka Developments Ltd.
He is also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Timber Merchants’ Association and he had served on the Industrial Development Board as a Director.
Dharmadasa has contributed to Sri Lanka’s cricketing arena immensely during his tenure as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL), and as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket. He is the Immediate Past President of the SLC.
Dharmadasa is currently the Honorary Consul General for the Kingdom of Morocco in Sri Lanka.
