Work starts on Central Bank’s Northern Province branch

Under the auspices of the Economic Development Ministry, a foundation stone was placed yesterday for the construction work of the Northern Province Central Bank branch in Killinochchi by Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
“Under the first phase of the project, the nine-storied building with a length of 30 feet and width of 60 feet will be built. The total cost of the project estimated to be around at Rs. 150 million,” Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said.
The planned building will comprised of a training centre, fully equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 200, office rooms and a Central Bank publications centre. On completion of the first phase, the second phase will include a residential house for the Central Bank Killinochchi Regional Manager and residential quarters for bank employees. Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda, Kilinochchi District Parliamentarian Murugesu Chandrakumara, Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri and Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal accompanied Minister Basil Rajapaksa during the ceremony.
