Workshop on Advanced Application of Financial Instruments in Practice

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) has organised a workshop on ‘Advanced Accounting for Financial Instruments’. The workshop will be held during 25, 26 and 27 September 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Distance Learning Centre (SLIDA). CMA Sri Lanka will source experts from Ernst & Young Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) to fill today’s knowledge gap within financial professionals on applying the key accounting concepts and principles related to financial instruments. EY FAAS proves extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in applying Sri Lanka Accounting Standards equivalent to International Financial Reporting Standards in providing IFRS related consultancy services for large financial services organisations, diversified organisations and multinationals including public sector organisations. The panel consists of IFRS accredited trainers and key note speakers of IFRS forums. These experts will demonstrate the practical aspect and real life scenario in applying and interpreting the key concepts of financial Instrument accounting. More importantly, this workshop will provide insight into complex measurement and valuation techniques applied in practice. The agenda includes a session explaining on derivative and hedge accounting principles with illustrations and case studies. This will also provide an opportunity to obtain an understanding on the new developments in the area of SLFRS 9- Financial Instruments Recognition and Measurement and SLFRS 13- Fair Value Measurement. The workshop is ideal for personnel involved in dealing with financial instruments to understand the practical aspect in the application of the requirements of the standard.
