Yaveen Jayasekara appointed Candor’s Chief Strategy Officer

Investment Banker Yaveen Jayasekara was recently appointed as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for Candor in keeping with the company’s ongoing strategic plans. Yaveen joined the team just six months since former banker Ryan Perera came on board as Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Candor. In the recent past Candor has progressed steadily with some of the most talented and experienced individuals joining the team from leading organisations in the country. Yaveen takes on his new role with focused experience in the Investment Banking Industry having previously performed a dual role as the Group Strategist for Acuity Partners (Joint Venture Investment Bank of Hatton National Bank and DFCC Bank) and the Head of Business Development and Marketing for Guardian Acuity Asset Management (Joint Venture of Ceylon Guardian Investment Trust – Investment arm of Carson Cumberbatch and Acuity). Yaveen has a BSc. (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from the London Metropolitan University and has also completed all examinations of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA –UK). He has obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the University of Colombo and has the Investment Advisor Certification from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. At present he is a Level 2 candidate in the CFA program and is also reading for his PhD in Finance from the University of Colombo. He is a Fellow of the Trinity College of London in Speech and Drama and holds a Licentiate Diploma in Drama and Communication from the London College of Music and Media. He is a visiting lecturer at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and was recently awarded the Best Presentation award and Gold Medal for his research paper at the International Conference on Accounting and Finance (2014) for the session on ‘Behavioral Finance and Financial Markets’. Group Director / CEO, Ravi Abeysuriya commented, that he is happy about Candor’s progress and remains confident with regard to its future plans. Candor is a fully-fledged financial services entity with three separate companies executing Investment Banking transactions via Candor Capital Ltd, providing professional fund management services via Candor Asset Management Ltd and equities trading via Candor Equities Ltd. Since Candor was fully acquired by the DIFC based Investment Firm, Eagle Proprietary Investments Limited (EPIL) in 2013, the entities have been restructured and are now aggressively moving into building its Investment Banking, Asset Management and Equities business, delivering great value to both local and international clients. In addition, Candor will be looking at further expanding and diversifying into new business areas in Sri Lanka.
