“After a good dinner one can forgive anyone, even one’s own relatives,” author Oscar Wilde is famously quoted as having said. Well, the time to forgive and forget and revel and dive into good food is here once again! The Colombo Gourmet Week by The Epicurean is here to stay in the city from 29 August to 3 September for the second year in a row.

The finest in gourmet dining washed down with an exceptional selection of beverages, ‘Colombo Gourmet Week 2017’ is an elegant week-long food festival in celebration of food, wine and produce. Organised by The Epicurean together with WineWorld.lk and the Galle Face Hotel, the festival offers you a taste of Old World culture: packed with a number of cuisines and delightful ambience.

In this year’s Colombo Gourmet Week, food and wine connoisseurs can expect their platters to be filled with exceptional gastronomic delights encompassing the timeless elegance of the Old World with traditional Italian, French and Spanish themed evenings.

The culinary fiesta week kicked off with a dinner featuring held on 29 August conducted by the Chairman of Rockland Distilleries at a sit-down dinner while enjoying a specially-curated dinner by Chef Adam Gaunt-Evans as he shared his ‘Adventure with Arrack’ to celebrate the much-loved local spirit.

Another highlight of the gourmet week was a delectable home style French dining experience on 30 August at Ward7, Jetwing Colombo. At this elegant evening, diners enjoyed the comforting warmth of a traditional French supper while taking in the spectacular views with a robust red in hand.

Today, 31 August, is a day to chant ‘Viva Italia!’ as guests enjoy the wine and culture of Italy together with tastefully-designed tapas by Chef Massimo Zampar from Il Ponte. The event will be themed in typical Italian market style ambiance while feasting on traditional Italian cuisine and vino.

Tomorrow, 1 September, will witness Spanish Chef Joan Gomez in action as he descends on Sri Lanka to join the culinary team at the rustic 1864 of Galle Face Hotel to create a tempting Spanish feast.

The weekend holds a variety of thoughtfully designed activities to entice the food, wine and spirit enthusiast. On 2 September, the hotel will display its beautiful boutique wine market for customers to taste the wines of the world.

The rousing Colombo Gourmet Week will end with a grand finale on 3 September, with gourmet treats at The Big Brunch which features flowing hues of pink and bubbly over an absolutely lush multi cuisine brunch whilst featuring the exceptionally talented flaring bartender Jan Marc Menicable from Monin as he takes centre-stage and whips up some innovative cocktails.
