Colombo’s first and only Turkish restaurant, Ankara opened its doors in February of 2017 to introduce authentic Turkish cuisine to food lovers in the country seeking to experience the true taste of Turkish cuisine. The interiors of this restaurant are laid out with art influenced by the region, complete with large Ottoman style pillars and seating that creates an ambiance to complete what’s on offer. Efficient and friendly staff is at hand to welcome and guide Ankara’s customers through a culinary experience based on the menu it promises to offer.

Having completed her 1st anniversary in business, this elite restaurant has briefly brought down the curtain to reopen with the introduction of a new phase to Colombo, where clients will have the opportunity of enjoying various activities that promises to add to the uniqueness of this property. The introduction of this plan is defined as ‘Atelier and Leisure Spaces’ and will offer Colombo’s art culture and food connoisseurs the opportunity to conduct mini events so that they can enjoy, promote or even sit back and relax with family and friends and bask in the flavours of Turkey.

With these new additions, Ankara will make available rooms to conduct get-togethers, host private meetings and other social events. It will also enable, through advance bookings, those who wish to host exclusively ‘ladies only’ pre-wedding parties or intimate gatherings for up to 25 per room and are designed to showcase both Mogul (Arabic style) and western style functions.

Spaces can also be used for corporate presentations and mini exhibitions. The first of such events will be held in May when ‘Adrisya’ partners with Ankara to launch the ‘Adrisya Serendipity’ Sri Lanka collection of fashion jewellery especially designed for the fashion conscious woman. Shabnam, the owner and designer of ‘Adrisya’ began her career creating inspirational and unique art jewellery from Pune, India in 2012 and is now present in 4 countries. They also participate at international exhibitions, thereby catering to a private clientele through her international partners.

Ankara has never failed to deliver true-to-taste Turkish flavours offered on its iconic menu such as hummus (a divine blend of chick peas and herbs, topped with Mediterranean olive oil), char grilled chicken or lamb kebabs marinated in yoghurt and garlic and the Ankara seafood paella, bursting with the freshness of the ocean’s best. Under the watchful eye of Turkish chefs, Ankara prides itself in using only the best of herbs and spices imported directly from Turkey, thus dishing out a mouth-watering array of food packed with flavours. A variety of beverages is also on offer. Ankara presents a range of vegetarian options that include soups and salads accompanied with freshly baked pita bread. For sweet delights, one can enjoy special Turkish ice cream or double roasted hazelnut ‘Turkish Delight’ to melt-in-your-mouth Baklava, perfect with Turkish coffee or Turkish tea to complete this unique experience

For special occasions, the property has the capacity of 75pax to host events in their private dining area. Please call 0112 504540 for reservations.
