CEO and Co-Founder of Sri Lanka’s favourite prawn restaurant, Apinash Sivagumaaran, recently acquired complete ownership of ISSO Restaurants Ltd. Having launched the establishment in 2016, the restaurant soon became a favourite among prawn-lovers in the city, prompting the opening of more branches both in Colombo and the Maldives.

Over the years, Sri Lanka has grown in popularity across the world as a tourist hotspot and is known for its warm hospitality, breathtaking sites, cultural heritage and the distinct tastes of its rich and flavoursome recipes. Prawns has a special place in the hearts of Sri Lankans and inevitably forms an integral part of the local food culture. Catering to this and the Sri Lankan love for seafood, ISSO continues to provide prawns and other seafood options for every taste palette.

Expressing his thoughts, ISSO Restaurants Ltd. Co-Founder and Owner Apinash Sivagumaaran said, “Prawns are considered a delicacy that is enjoyed both locally and internationally. Our mission is to disrupt the market, by simply reintroducing prawns as a daily food option in a price bracket that is affordable to many. We want to build a renowned international brand, and make our food accessible in many locations, both locally and internationally.”

Apinash went on to say that by establishing their presence abroad, starting in the Maldives in August, they hope to promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination through their outlets. “We consider it important to do our part in promoting our country among the international community and to help drive more tourists to the island. This is our vision. By representing our food and our hospitality in other nations we can contribute towards this objective. It is an integral part of our game plan.”

Since its inception, ISSO Restaurants has given priority to maintaining the quality and standard of their food. The restaurant has been committed to using the freshest and highest quality ingredients to guarantee their food safety and nutrition. As they grow over the next few years, they will continue to focus on the core of their business; improving internal processes and innovating their menu offering; in order to become the best Sri Lankan Seafood Restaurant the world has had a taste of.

ISSO Restaurants currently have two outlets in Colombo and one outlet soon opening in the Maldives. They plan to open outlets in major residential suburbs bordering Colombo and in other cities across the country such as Kandy, Negombo, Galle and Matara. At present they are on the lookout for franchise partners in these areas and in key International markets. ISSO is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the week and offer dine-in, takeaway and free delivery services (within Colombo city limits). They can also be found on Uber Eats and PickMe Food for delivery.
