Bairaha, the household brand that promotes healthy poultry products, continued to extend its support to ‘Bairaha – What’s Cooking?’ the culinary competition that has earned the love of many housewives across the island.
The third episode of this series of competition was held at Nest Academy in Ratmalana on September 20, that saw 15 teams making use of their culinary magic in their battle to earn a spot at the event’s grand finale. The much-anticipated episode was held amidst strict health measures to ensure that all participants were safe.
The competitors made good use of the various Bairaha products that were supplied for free by the company to take up that episode’s challenge to make a main meal out of the ingredients they were provided. As the competition reached its height, the place smelled of sparkling spices and well-done poultry meat.
“Bairaha’s legacy spans for over 45 years. As it is 100% a household brand, we wanted to engage with housewives more,” Bairaha Farms PLC Brand Manager Ravin Madusanka said, explaining why the famous brand jumped onboard to sponsor the country’s first culinary championship organised especially for housewives.
He added, “The most interesting part of this event is that none of the contestants are professional chefs. Bairaha is a brand that is popular among housewives and it is important for us to show their culinary skills this way.”
As the housewives’ trusted brand more than 45 years Bairaha is giving back what it should, even during a global pandemic, to its valued customers.
This week’s episode was judged by Chef Gayan De Silva who is a culinary and hospitality trainer attached to William Angliss at SLIIT, Thivara Fernando who made to the Top 11 at the fourth edition of Young Chef Olympiad in 2018, Fathi Haniffa who is an administrator turned home cook and owner of Fathi’s Spice Attic, and guest judged by Tan Bohoran who is an accountant and a cook by heart, and the son of chef Tony Bohoran.
The recent event also had a little twist, in addition to selecting the best three teams, awards were also given out for best presentation, best team work, and best creativity and methodology. ‘Bairaha – What’s Cooking?’ has three more episodes to go before it reaches the grand finale towards early 2021.
