Nestled within the vibrant and historic Dutch Hospital precinct in Colombo 01, Ceylon Curry Club is redefining Sri Lankan cuisine with a unique fusion of tradition and modernity. This exceptional dining destination invites guests to embark on a culinary journey through Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, blending locally sourced spices and ingredients into dishes that evoke the essence of the island’s culinary tapestry.

Renowned for its commitment to authenticity, Ceylon Curry Club has garnered international acclaim, bringing the bold flavours of Sri Lanka to prestigious events worldwide. In March 2024, the restaurant was honoured to showcase Sri Lanka’s distinctive cuisine at Radhika and Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar, India. Enthralled by signature creations such as the beloved hoppers, the Ambani family extended an invitation for Ceylon Curry Club to cater an additional event the following day. This later led to another request to cater their Sangeet ceremony in Mumbai in July 2024, where over 3,000 guests savoured these authentic tastes of Sri Lanka.

“These remarkable opportunities enable us to share the essence of Sri Lankan cuisine with the world, introducing our island’s bold flavours and time-honoured techniques to new audiences,” remarks Ceylon Curry Club General Manager Kumudu Jayathilake. “Our vision is to offer an authentic yet reimagined taste of Sri Lanka, creating an unforgettable experience with every dish.”

Ceylon Curry Club has also become a cherished favourite among international personalities such as Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston, and Kapil Dev, who appreciate its blend of authenticity, artistic presentation, and impeccable service. The curated menu unfolds in stages “Tasty Titbits” (bites), “Appetite Arousers” (starters), “Punchy Mains,” “A Taste of Tradition,” “Authentic Ceylon Curry,” and “Final Flourish” (desserts), each course balancing heritage with a contemporary twist.

Signature dishes include the Negombo Lagoon Crab Cart, a tantalising 1.2 kg freshly caught crab in a fragrant curry with drumsticks (moringa). This dish is served in a charming little cart paired with coconut sambol and your choice of roast paan or garlic rice. The Ceylon Beef Wellington reimagines a classic with curried beef and spiced duxelles encased in crisp puff pastry, accompanied by tempered potatoes and roasted garlic. For spice enthusiasts, the Kochchi Chicken Skewers offer flavour-packed chicken marinated with fiery kochchi chilli, served alongside freshly made roti and presented in an interactive way. Vegetarians can indulge in the Spicy Tender Brinjal Ravioli, a delightful combination of brinjal moju within soft ravioli served in a curried tomato sauce offers the guest visual elements that mirrors the layers of flavour.

The menu also honours Sri Lankan classics that is a treat for the taste buds and eyes, with the presentation of each dish thoughtfully prepared to enhance the dining experience. Few of the highlights are the Fish Ambulthiyal with Yellow Rice, featuring tuna prepared using age-old techniques. An assortment of hoppers, featuring prawn, chicken, egg, coconut milk, and plain varieties are prepared fresh in front of guests, providing a unique experience for the guests to make their own hopper. The Egg and Prawn Godamba Roti delivers layers of flavour with every bite. The comforting pittu, a steamed blend of ground rice and coconut shavings served in bamboo tubes – a nod to the traditional method of preparation – rounds out the meal.

Complementing the vibrant cuisine is a selection of “Ceylonese Blends”, where each cocktail is thoughtfully crafted to encapsulate the spirit of Sri Lanka. Signature concoctions include the Arrack Mojito, Ceylon Colada, Wood-apple Martini, Karapincha (Curry Leaves) and Arrack Green, offering a truly unique taste that is exclusive to Ceylon Curry Club.
