Dolce Italia, the only authentic Italian restaurant in Sri Lanka that sources local products to turn out original Italian cuisine, announces its newest venture, the launch of a new and exciting range of Italian products and flavours branded as ‘I Sapori di Dolce Italia’ which means ‘The flavours of sweet Italy’.
Conceptualised by Founders and Co-owners Manuela Prugnoli and Florence Gambarota, this tantalising range of products were launched on 22 August at their main restaurant housed at No. 5, Skelton Road, Colombo 5, to a host of expats, business personalities, professional women, celebrities, sports personalities and foodie lovers. The Chief Guest at the occasion was Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and The Maldives Rita Giuliana Mannella.
The event that kicked off with a short presentation outlining their successful journey since inception was followed by an interesting and mouth-watering cooking demonstration by Chef Manuela Prugnoli, the heart and soul behind every dish at Dolce Italia, who showcased to the audience the many ways of preparing a selection of authentic Italian dishes using the ‘I Sapori di Dolce Italia’ range.
The I Sapori di Dolce Italia range comprises of ravioli, lasagna, pasta sauces, jams, chutneys, pâté, frozen pizzas and an assortment of delicious cookies.
The ravioli range sports spinach and ricotta ravioli, pumpkin and ricotta ravioli, four cheeses ravioli, chicken ravioli, beef ravioli, seafood ravioli and mushroom ravioli, whilst the lasagna range includes chicken, beef and vegetarian.
Pasta lovers will enjoy the collection of sauces such as the Spicy Tomato Sauce with Black Olives, Fresh Vegetable Pasta Sauce, The Classic Amatriciana Pasta Sauce, Beef Bolognese Sauce, Chicken Bolognese Sauce, Authentic Genovese Pesto Sauce and Traditional Pasta Sauce with Anchovies.
The authentic appetiser range offers chicken liver pâté, pickled gherkins and egg plant and bell pepper sauce in olive oil, all of which are ideal as snacks on toasted bread, to enrich salads or for sandwiches and bruschetta.
A range of products cooked in sunflower oil are also on offer, comprising of cooked zucchinis in sunflower oil, cooked onions in sunflower oil and sundried tomatoes in sunflower oil.
The frozen pizza range once again sports popular Italian favourites such as Margherita and Arrabbiata that take just eight minutes to heat and eat.
“The I Sapori di Dolce Italia range is a part of the strategic move made to extend our brand beyond the restaurant and to offer the consumer convenient, Italian at-home meals. We believe this strategy will keep consumers thinking about the Dolce Italia brand even when they are not eating out. Our product range includes handcrafted gourmet Italian dishes with all-natural ingredients, freshly made and sourced from fresh local produce, both healthy to eat and with authentic Italian taste,” stated Florence Gambarota in her address to the audience.
A brand range based on the personalities and values of the founders themselves, warm, colourful, informal and with a passion for authentic Italian food, the I Sapori di Dolce Italia range is set to bring beautifully cooked Italian dishes made from well sourced produce, to a Sri Lankan public who has never tasted anything like it before.
