Inspired by the culture and sandy shores of the South Coast, Amari Galle introduced ORU – its all-new specialised Seafood Restaurant and Bar. ORU is an open-air dining venue on the beach. The restaurant opens just before sunset and at night, transforms into the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a relaxing night out.

ORU offers an exceptional variety of flavours from Sri Lanka and around the world, using the highest quality local ingredients. The seafood is handpicked daily, fresh from local markets. A diverse variety of fresh catch of the day is in full view and the menu offers a variety of multi-cultural preparation methods with a twist from Amari Galle’s native Executive Chef Sampath Meddawattege.
“The seafood is prepared a la minute once the guests have chosen the items. We prepare it to their liking and the dish is served to the table. The restaurant also has an à la carte menu with starters, mains and desserts,” said Chef Sampath.
Each dish can be matched with a fun cocktail or a glass of wine, further enhancing the flavour and experience of each dish. The ORU beach bar sets a dramatic stage for splendid sunsets and truly memorable moments with an innovative cocktail menu paired with creative tapas.
ORU Seafood Restaurant and Bar is a part of Amari Galle’s culinary portfolio, which includes Ahara Gourmet Gallery, inspired by the rich street food culture of the region.
Amari Galle was recently awarded the title of ‘Leading Family Resort’ at the 2019 South Asian Travel Awards. The hotel has been certified ISO 22000, and is the first in Sri Lanka to utilise a fully automated Food Safety Management System, PEx Solution run by a team of locally and internationally qualified industry professionals who take pride in upholding high standards of food safety.
