Two Maldivian pastry chefs, Chef Aminath Hameed from Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and Chef Ibrahim Fareed from Soneva Fushi Resort along with Chef Indra Kumar Limbu from Hulhule Island Hotel will formulate ‘Team Maldives’ to compete for the first time at the Asian Pastry Cup which will be held on 24 and 25 April at the Singapore Expo coinciding with Food & Hotel Asia 2018 (FHA Singapore). This unique live competition pits pastry chefs against one another, culminating in a display of the most delightful and beautiful pastry creations.
The Asian Pastry Cup is held in the same format as the World Pastry Cup, each team consists of three individuals – two team members who will create the showpieces, chocolates cakes and plated deserts, and a jury member who will be part of the judging panel at the helm of which is the founder of the World Pastry Cup, Gabriel Paillasson.
Associated to the ‘Club Coupe du Monde’, the Asian Pastry Cup is the official selective platform for Asia to the World Pastry Cup in Lyon.

Bestbuy Maldives (BBM), a leading Maldivian conglomerate heading resort supplies in the archipelago together with Maldives Exhibition and Conference Services (MECS), the organisers of Hotel Asia Exhibition & International Culinary Challenge believes in invigorating the skills of the Local Chefs in the Maldives and has taken this initiative to Sponsor the Team to the Asian Pastry Cup for the very first time. MECS and BBM also sponsored Chefs to various other competitions in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong in the past.
BBM & MECS also takes very keen interest to impart knowledge, skills and latest techniques to the Chefs in the Island Nation and has conducted a series of Masterclass Workshops by the top most figures in the Culinary World such as award winning Michelin Star Chefs, Bocuse d’Or Winners, Culinary Olympic Champions and Professors in Gastronomy to name a few.
The Team Maldives were prepared in the latest methods in Pastry as the sponsors conducted a Special Training Program in early March this year, at Pastry Kitchen of Hulhulé Island Hotel. This four-day training was conducted by Award Winning Pastry Chef Leslie Teong and World Renowned Chef Alan Palmer.
