The Hotel Show Colombo 2019 once again broke new ground with the holding of the finals of the ‘Bar Champs’ by Pernod Ricard together with the ‘Industry Gathering’ sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which was held on 2 December at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo to successfully conclude the Hotel Show Colombo 2019.
Both events were organised by Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association (CHSGA) in collaboration with Pernod Ricard Lanka and USDA. The end vision of these CHSGA undertakings is to raise the standards of the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka to international levels.
CHSGA ‘Industry Gathering’ partnered with USDA to facilitate the ‘Evening of Seasonal Cheers’. Many significant professionals comprising of general managers, food and beverage managers, past presidents of CHSGA and sponsors participated at the event.
A series of regional candidate training and grooming sessions were conducted on a regional level to an elite group of over 100 of the country’s best bartenders. The regions covered were Kandy, Central and Hill Country, Colombo, Negombo, Sigiriya – Cultural Triangle, North and East, South and Deep South. Six of the best candidates qualified for the final round at the grand finale. The winner of Bar Champs 2019 was Nishantha Kumara from Victoria Golf Club while the 1st Runner-up was A.H. Wathsala De Silva of Hikkaduwa Beach Resort and 2nd Runner-up being D. Roshan Cramer of The Grand Kandyan Hotel.
