Waters Edge for the third consecutive year will proudly usher in ‘Oktoberfest,’ the biggest Bavarian German food and beer festival in town, which will open doors of indulgence from 17 to 20 October at The Boardwalk, Diyatha Park from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Towering high for its splendid cuisine complemented by its setting in an ecologically embraced, natural environment closer to the Colombo Metropolitan, Waters Edge justly lays claim to be the host for the largest brew festival in Colombo and one, which witnessed over 5,000 visitors last year itself.
Over the past three years, Oktoberfest at the Edge, enticed a large number of expats, locals and tourists who reveled in unlimited beer and a remarkable extravaganza of Bavarian-themed cuisine, made by a team of authentic German chefs and the expert local talent.
The signature festival, the largest of its kind to be hosted in Sri Lanka, spans across 4 days and is held in the picturesque setting overlooking the Diyawanna Lake. In addition to dining, drinking and dancing, visitors can enjoy nights of sheer entertainment with the best of music featuring Infinity, Magic Box Mix up, Glory and Centigradz Ft. Wings consecutively from 17 October onwards.
“Unifying our reputation at Waters Edge as the leading host for entertainment with the best in cross-continental cuisine, we have curated the best atmosphere to welcome another sequence of Oktoberfest, which is themed the largest freedom party that Colombo is yet to witness,” commented Waters Edge Director Strategic Initiatives Enoj Muthukumarana. “We pride in ourselves for hosting this extravaganza for the third consecutive year which has also broken records for the highest number of ticket sales within the shortest timeframe.”
Re-creating the spirit and traditions of the original Oktoberfest, the largest freedom party at the Edge takes the form of a typical German beer festival serving special brews coupled with authentic German staples such as bratwurst, schnitzels, sauerkraut and pork knuckles.
The meals would be complete with the meticulously planned array of German desserts and a few hot favourites such as the assorted German cakes; Sacher Torte, Black Forest, Lindzer Torte and Crème Cheese Torte served with the famous Apple Strudel topped with Vanilla Sauce and an array of ice cream!
The buffet and the joyous entertainment would succulently blend with the traditional Oktoberfest celebrations adorned by traditional service girls from Munich to create the true to life Oktoberfest atmosphere.
Popular activities such as the hotdog eating competition, brew competitions and best dressed competition will be staged throughout the four days of celebrations.
As one of the most talked about events in the country, which is expected to draw tens of thousands in crowd, Oktoberfest sets platform for many youth brands to showcase their brand presence through strategic sponsorship.
