Taking the legendary Sri Lankan crab beyond borders, the award-winning Ministry of Crab will hold their first ever pop up in China at The Sukhothai Shanghai on 1 and 2 June. Founder of the world renowned restaurant, Chef Dharshan Munidasa will be assisted by his team in serving a specially curated five-course dinner menu featuring the sumptuous lagoon crabs and freshwater prawns that Ministry of Crab is famous for.

The more celebrated signature dishes of the restaurant menu will be dished out at the two-day pop including the Crab Liver Pâté – a creamy decadent à la minute dish, the Prawn Curry – deemed the best in the country infusing both freshwater prawns and tiger prawns adding depths of flavour to the curry, the Baked Crab – akin to a crab risotto served in a shell, the Garlic Chilli Prawn that highlights the flavours of garlic and chilli flakes in Italian olive oil, and the Pepper Crab, bringing the king of spice in Sri Lanka to life.

The Sukhothai Shanghai is a contemporary lifestyle hotel under the Sukhothai Hotels & Resorts of HKR International consisting of 170 tastefully-designed guest rooms and 31 residence-style suites, and five dining venues. This culinary venture will be the first of its kind held at The Sukhothai Shanghai since its launch in April this year.

Taking local gastronomy by storm, Dharshan through his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to novelty has established a trademark in contemporary Japanese and Sri Lankan cuisine, marking a presence in the global culinary map. “It’s our first pop up in China,” he stated. “We have many Chinese guests dining at Ministry of Crab and we’re looking forward to serving them in their home country.”
