Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa welcomed Pavan Chennam as its new Executive Chef recently.
Pavan hails from neighbouring India, with global experience and a love for top-notch 5-star service provision.
Starting his culinary career at the age of 22 back in New Delhi, he worked in a five star luxury hotel as a trainee while at the same time attending management and advanced culinary diploma courses.
Next he secured employment as a Junior Sous Chef and worked up various ranks, becoming Executive Sous Chef in distinguished hotels and resorts until 2015 where he earned the position of Executive Chef through hard work and determination.
Pavan has more than 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry and having spent much of his career at supervisory levels, he is well versed with management skills that will enable him manoeuvre the facility towards prosperity.
Notably, Pavan served as the Executive Chef in a 310 room luxury property and displayed high effectiveness and efficiency in steering all operations. He has also displayed high leadership skills by being in charge of a 100-member team through exemplary leadership.
Additionally, Pavan is a multi-talented team player who is self-driven and guided by work ethics and professionalism as evidenced by a positive reputation in all the places he has worked.
Pavan has made remarkable achievements in his career. In 2013, he was awarded the Best Manager while in the position of Chef De Cuisine. He remained the holder of Times Food Guide Best Restaurant Award from 2006 to 2013. In 2014, Pavan emerged as the F&B Champion for Meetings Imagined, an Initiative propelled by Marriott International.
