Everyone in the world loves ice-cream. So much so that on average a person consumes between 15-20l of the preferred dessert every year. There are over 1,000 different flavours of ice cream in existence around the world and research shows that in a lifetime an average human will only taste a maximum of 25 flavours. Imagine that!
Adding to the flavour portfolio in the local market, Sri Lanka’s 100% local dairy manufacturer is bringing is range of new flavours to tantalize taste buds with local flavours. Using only locally sourced milk with no added preservatives, colouring or flavours, Pelwatte Dairy’s premium range of ice-cream is ready to go on the market.
The range includes local flavours like coconut with cardamom and coffee with cardamom, while also launching international favourites like blueberry and butterscotch. The new range compliments the already existing flavours like vanilla, chocolate, fruit and nut, banana, mango and strawberry.
Speaking on the launch Pelwatte Dairy Managing Director Akmal Wickramanayake said: “Ice-cream is such an integral part of life no matter where you are in the world. At Pelwatte we strive to inculcate familiar flavours in to our ice-cream range. The launch of the new flavours has been very exciting for us as people embrace the creamy, 100% locally manufactured difference.”
Pelwatte Dairy is currently testing 11 flavours to be further developed and launched to the market shortly. Two new regular flavours will be launched within the next few month. The premium range will begin mass production in 2020 in both cups and tubs.
Pelwatte Ice-Cream comes in handy 80ml cups, and 500ml, 1l, 2l and 4l tubs. It is also available island wide at supermarkets, retail stores and the Pelwatte Dairy outlets at Pelwatte, Galle and Buttala.
