In a bid to attract and appeal to a wider audience in the country, seafood restaurant Tsing Tao relaunched with an upgraded menu of authentic Chinese cuisine recently.

Tsing Tao is located in the Reid Avenue frontage of the Colombo Racecourse Promenade, and is operated by Excel Restaurants together with Browns Hotels and Resorts. Specialised in preparing seafood based Chinese dishes, Tsing Tao sets the ambience for a sophisticated dining experience coupled with exotic tastes and flavours.

The menu at Tsing Tao consist of authentic dishes spiced up with a delicious twist, reflecting our knowledge and understanding on Chinese gastronomy. As we focus on the authentic segment, we are confident this relaunch will expand our appeal to a wider audience to enjoy our food,” Wijeyratne explained.
The new menu features a range of dishes originating from diverse regions of China which have been recreated by the local chefs at Tsing Tao. The starters include vegetable spring rolls, sesame prawn toast, fried crab claws with hot garlic sauce and deep fried chicken wontons, to whet your appetite. Tsing Tao offers its diners both thick soups and clear soups.
The seafood dishes include the signature deep fried lobster with ginger and spring onion which is a delicious dish with the famed Sri Lankan lagoon crab. Cantonese style stir fried prawns with celery and cashew nuts, hot butter cuttlefish, steamed garoupa with chili XO sauce, fried fish with ginger and spring onion as well as Singapore style chili crab are other items included in the menu.
Apart from the seafood dishes there’s an array of meat based mains including deep fried chicken Szechuan style, wok fried beef with kangkun, Szechuan style spicy pork belly with cabbage and Wok fried lamb with zucchini XO sauce. Tsing Tao also prepares a range of traditional Chinese rice and noodles based dishes including fried rice, Hokkien noodles with seafood and spicy chicken noodles with mushroom. The desserts include sago cream with honeydew melon to Sesame and date pancake with ice cream.
