The Ocean Seafood Restaurant at The Kingsbury is fast becoming ‘the’ destination for the best and freshest seafood in the city by the sea. Local fair aside the restaurant’s supply routes now cover the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic, Southern and Arctic oceans.

Atlantic King Crab, Dutch Mussels, Canadian Lobster, Cray Fish, Japanese Hamachi Fillet or Yellow Tail, Cod, Lemon Sole, Norwegian Smoked Creole Salmon and Haddock, just to name a few will be among the new range of seafood on offer.

The beauty of having your lunch or dinner at The Ocean is that aside from what is on the menu, you can pick out any seafood item of your choice and have it prepared to your liking. From a simple pepper and salt with a squeeze of lime on your prawns or a more elaborate Thai style Modha dish – the choice really is yours and yours alone.

In town to launch these new additions to the menu will be Chef Markus Dybwad, formally from a three Michelin Star restaurant in England. Chef Dybwad will be preparing some delicious dishes to take you on a seafood culinary journey like no other. He will work his magic at the restaurant from 22 to 30 August while the new items and seafood will continue to be on offer at the restaurant thereon.

Among the new dishes will be a delightful and hearty seafood chowder. This chunky, creamy soup will include salmon, smoked haddock as well as mixed shellfish and potatoes. For a spicier option you can opt for a serving of spicy seafood stew with tomatoes and lime. This one pot casserole, packed with shellfish, white fish and lots of chilli will be just perfect on a hot day! Among the other delightful dishes will be mussels in red pesto, pan fried sea bass with citrus-dressed broccoli, lemony prawn and pea risotto.

Your experience at The Ocean will be made further interesting thanks to Laure Oger from Toulouse, France. Oger completed her MBA in Wine and Spirits Marketing and Management from INSEEC, Bordeaux, France and has followed her passion of educating wine lovers around the world to major cities in Europe and Asia. She will be at the restaurant to help you pair your seafood dishes with the perfect wine. Be it a simple white fish with butter sauce and lemon or white wine sauce which will be complimented with a Sauvignon Blanc or an Unoaked Chardonnay or a Gewürztraminer or Chardonnay for a more spicy dish – she will be there to between 22 to 30 August to help you make the right choice to enhance your meal. In addition to the wines you can also opt for Gin based cocktails courtesy Rockland Distilleries.

Executive Chef Kithsiri De Silva and the F&B Manager Iyantha Abeysinghe were confident and excited to declare, “This new line of imported seafood will be a fabulous treat to all of us here in Sri Lanka, as we need not go to other countries to enjoy the world’s best seafood.” For reservations please call 077 108 77 20 or email [email protected].
