Australia Day, also known as the Anniversary Day and the Foundation Day, is the official National Day of Australia and it is celebrated on 26 January. Some popular ways it is celebrated in Australia include outdoor concerts, community barbeques, sports competitions, festivals and fireworks.
To celebrate Australia Day here in Sri Lanka, the Galle Face Hotel – Sri Lanka’s Heritage in Hospitality and one of Colombo’s historic landmarks – has planned an Australian barbeque by the poolside and seaside. The promotion is set to run from 26 to 29 January from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. by the Poolside of the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.
The main items on the menu will make your mouth water and it includes succulent herb and mustard marinated lamb chops, tender seasoned chicken legs and breast, fine seafood brochettes, juicy chicken bockwurst sausages, moist herbed sirloin steaks, delicious chicken and capsicum kebabs.
Accompanying the main items are fresh tossed salads, hot creamy baked potatoes, rich in flavour grilled vegetables, crispy bacon bits and tangy sour cream. Adding to the already mouth watering menu will be an assortment of straight from the oven breads.
Declared a public holiday in Australia, Australia Day is a day for celebration with family and friends and how better to celebrate here than gathered at the Galle Face Hotel by the pool with views overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean and the regal historic hotel itself.
Let the warmth of family and friends embrace you on a chilly evening as you relax by the pool with the regal historic hotel as a backdrop and with views of the magnificent Indian Ocean enjoying a yummy barbeque!
