The Spice Festival comes to Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo this month, with the celebration of Vietnamese cuisine. Celebrating the spices from around the world, the World Spice Festival opens on 4 October 2012 and is open to the public from 5 to 22 October 2012. The event hosted annually by the Sri Lankan Tourist Board is a grand affair, with celebrity chefs showcasing their talents.
Originating in 2005, the World Spice Festival has become a big hit in Sri Lanka offering three days of adventurous dining options waiting to be indulged in. The culinary week sees the introduction of 15 signature chefs from around the world, from the Middle East, Latin America, Australia and Thailand amongst many more.
In collaboration with the World Spice Festival and the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo is host to showcasing a selection of Vietnamese cuisine. With the signature Vietnamese chef Luong Duc Dung from Vietnam, The Dining Room is presenting a Vietnamese dinner buffet.
Commemorating World Spice Festival, the Vietnamese dinner buffet presents a variety of dishes infused with authentic Vietnamese spices. The main attraction of Vietnamese cuisine is its use of fresh and healthy dishes. Herbs are a key element to Vietnamese cooking, frequented in many dishes is the use of lemongrass, Vietnamese mint and coriander.
Indulge in Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo’s dinner buffet starting off with fried spring rolls and experience the flavours of the region with a range of meat and seafood dishes. The flavours of the different regions of Vietnam are present in Chef Dung’s selection of dishes. The marinated chicken with five spices brings together flavours from the central region of Vietnam, where spices are galore due to the mountainous terrain.
Northern Vietnam is most popular for seafood dishes such as squid on lemon grass with sweet and sour sauce or a fish barbecue. The northern region sees the use of limited spices, however compensates well with an infusion of sweet, salty and sour flavours.
The Vietnamese dinner buffet is available at The Dining Room from the 8 to 22 October 2012 from 7.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. at Rs. 1919++++.
