Bringing in a new kind of flavor to the World Spice Food Festival 2012, sponsors Elephant House Sausages conducted a competition for culinary professionals from across the City’s top hotels and restaurants. These culinary chefs were challenged to cook up the most creative quick meal using Elephant House sausages.
“The World Spice Food Festival has established itself as a much anticipated food event in Sri Lanka with many talented chefs from reputed hotels and restaurants coming together to celebrate the explosion of flavours created by spices,” said Samari Ihalagedara, Head of Marketing, Keells Food Products and Asst. Vice President, John Keells Group.
“This year Elephant House Sausages decided to join the celebration and support the initiative by SLTDA, while also giving festival participants an opportunity to create something new and exciting using our succulent range of premier EH Sausages.”
Chef W.G.V.N.K. Chandrarathne of Hilton Colombo was adjudged the champion, while Chef M. Marya Nesakumar of MA’s Tropical Foods Processing and Chef L.H. Asanka Sanjeewa of Hotel Galadari emerged first and second runners up respectively.
Speaking about the experience, Chef Chandrarathne said, “It was a very interesting challenge to participate in. Elephant House Sausages are loved by generations of Sri Lankans and I had to figure out a way to preserve its signature taste and still create something new and delicious. I think the end result proved that I was successful in doing just that and I am delighted to have been crowned the champion.”
Elephant House Sausages have been a distinctively Sri Lankan brand since its launch in 1966, providing consumers with premium products that are on par with international standards in terms of taste and quality.
Elephant House Sausages were one of the sponsors of this year’s World Spice Food Festival 2012 held at Waters Edge and organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. The annual festival, which was inaugurated in 2005, attracted over approximately 25,000 participants this year.
