Celebrating 210 years of history and colonial heritage, Mount Lavinia Hotel has become synonymous with the Swiss Food Festival in Sri Lanka. The hotel together with the Embassy of Switzerland in Sri Lanka will host ‘A Taste of Switzerland’ from 2 to 7 August at the Sunset Chalet, Mount Lavinia Hotel from 7 p.m. onwards.

Looking forward to yet another exciting year is Chef Michael Goeggerle, Executive Chef of Mount Lavinia Hotel who will lead the culinary team in presenting the delicious and authentic Swiss favourites Fondue and Raclette among the rest. The delectable menu also includes Zurichoise, Appenzeller Cheese Spaetzle, Thurgauer Sourbeef, Berner Roesti, and Apple or Blueberry Waehen, Swiss Carrot Cake and home-made Zuger Kirsch Cake as desserts.

The Sunset Chalet aptly named to complement ‘A Taste of Switzerland’ creates an intimate atmosphere dressed up in traditional Swiss Treicheln bells and the 26 canton flags adorning the walls.

Traditional Swiss music will come alive with saxophone and flute artist Franziska Meyer. Inspired mainly by Soul music in the likes of Quincy Jones, Crusaders, The Soul Committee and Billie Holiday, she is a First Rated Winner at the State of Missouri Music Competition. Franziska is no stranger to Sri Lanka as she has been visiting the island for the past 12 years and built a fan base for herself.

She will be joined by Adi Recht, a musician who plays the famous Swiss instrument ‘The Alphorn’, a 9 ft long wooden instrument carved from a single log. This was initially used to call with its long reaching sound across the valley to communicate with others on the neighbouring Alps.

“The Swiss Food Festival was introduced by Mount Lavinia Hotel many years ago and has become a much looked forward to in Colombo’s culinary calendar. We are proud to present ‘A Taste of Switzerland’ along with the Embassy of Switzerland in Sri Lanka as they celebrate 60 years of bilateral relationship between the two countries.  For MLH to be a part of this celebration is truly an honour,” commented Manager – Promotions and Corporate Event Planning Dilanka Perera.

Mount Lavinia Hotel would like to extend a special note of thanks to all the sponsors including Oman Airways for coming in as their official airline sponsor. Make your reservation today for a traditional Swiss delight with your family and friends.  Call 0112 711711 Ext. 1425.
