This year’s Galle Children’s Festival will take place on the 11, 12, 13 and 14 October, four fulfilled days where kids can take part in tons of amazing workshops. This fun and educative event is sure to being out the best in kids so be sure to bring the whole family and enjoy a great weekend!
Thursday, 11 October is the opening parade at the Galle Fort where anyone can come along and watch or join in. Limited tickets will be available for the opening ceremony and the traditional puppet performance by the Ambalangoda Puppet Group.
Friday, 12 October is the school day the workshops are provided to children from the Southern Province only through their schools. Saturday, 13 October and Sunday, 14 October is open to everyone and it’s all free!
Saturday workshops, in the Galle Fort, Court Sq will cover creative writing, music, arts and crafts, cookery, games, storytelling etc.
Sunday field trips will include excursions to the Martin Wickramasinghe folk art museum, the rainforest, ship tour and boat ride by the Sri Lanka Navy and a fun cycle ride around the Galle Fort for children under 15 and for the more adventurous cyclists, a 27 kilometre ride around the suburbs of Galle and many more.
Free tickets are available from the box office until 7 October on Monday to Friday between 2.30 and 6.30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. In Galle, they are available at Mamas Rooftop Café, 76 Leyn Baan Street, Galle Fort and at Barefoot in Colombo.
