Good Food Festival and Entrepreneur Exchange Program this weekend

The Good Food Festival and Entrepreneur Exchange program will be held from 27-28 June at Green Path (adjacent to Viharamahadevi Park Grounds) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will coincide with the National Nutrition Month. The festival will promote healthy food and healthy lifestyles; support local producers and foster cultural and social linkages across regions, providing visitors with a unique culinary, cultural, educational and entertaining experience. 

The Nucleus Foundation is organising the festival with financial assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and UNICEF supported by the Ministries of Agriculture, Education and Health while the Scaling Up Nutrition Peoples Forum, the Good Market, Food and Agriculture Organisation, World Food Program, Save the Children, Nutrition Society of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Medical Nutrition Association and World Vision will join as event partners.

Government agencies, international development agencies, civil society organisations and the private sector will come together, during the festival, to address the need for improved health and healthy lifestyle choices. 

At the two-day event, visitors can get advice on nutrition free-of-charge; check their body mass index; learn to cook nutritious meals; learn about innovative approaches to nutrition and meet northern food suppliers. There will also be education zones focusing on agriculture, dairy, poultry and food; a culinary program entitled, ‘Little Cooks’, designed to engage children; Zumba; a Soap Soccer Tournament; cultural events; and many more activities to make it an enjoyable as well as an educational experience for the entire family. 

Entrepreneurs from the Northern Province will also provide an opportunity for the public in Colombo to experience northern food and culture.
