GRAZE Kitchen celebrates Chinese New Year

60Hilton Colombo’s graceful all day dining restaurant, the GRAZE Kitchen will celebrate Chinese New Year with an extravagant Chinese New Year Set Menu from 28 January to 11 February during lunch and dinner. Guests could enjoy the hotel’s Chinese Chef Yu Min’s unique creations during the promotion.

A four course set menu with a choice of starter, soup, main course and a dessert could be enjoyed  at the newly opened GRAZE Kitchen at the Hilton Colombo. You could enjoy an assorted dim sum basket as a starter which consists of prawn siu mai topping with tobiko, chicken and pickled olive mini buns, crystal harkau topping with green onion sauce served with traditional dipping a choice of stuffed stewed lion head (pork) with crab meat or traditional Chinese herbal hen soup and stir fried blue swimmer crab with new year rice cake in black pepper sauce, deep fried pork spare ribs with minced garlic and seasoned salt, special chilli dipping sauce with wok fried assorted vegetables, chicken and shitake mushroom dumpling, boiled sticky rice ball stuffed with black sesame paste as the main course, followed by chilled mango sago cream with pomelo and delicate fruit platter. 

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival in China, is the most important traditional holiday in China and this year it is the Year of the Rooster. Chinese food being popular in Sri Lanka, the hotel hopes to entertain locals and Chinese residents during this Spring Festival. 

Contemporary in design, the atmosphere at GRAZE KITCHEN is inspired by nature with organic sculptural features and lighting, and warm natural earthen color tones. The birds nest inspired chandelier with four distinct venue spaces that offer guests different ambient and visual cues, lighting that changes from day to night to create a subtle change in mood and environment. In addition to the show kitchen experience there is alfresco dining on the deck. 

The restaurant, which can accommodate up to 240, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a la carte menu option as well. The pod-shaped show kitchen allows guests to be involved in the action of preparation by selecting their own ingredients in a market style environment and having the chefs prepare the dishes a la minute. Featuring authentic specialty chefs under one roof, guests could enjoy diversity of cuisines such as Sri Lankan, Indian Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italian and Mediterranean.
