Waters Edge, known for its delicate spread of afternoon high tea titbits has taken Colombo by storm, with the perfect blend of bite size delicacies and tea originating from the land of the rising sun. Colombo’s first ever Japanese high tea was instigated by Ginza Owner Richard Balasuriya, Waters Edge General Manager Rohan Fernandopulle and spearheaded by Waters Edge Director Marketing and Sales Thilanka Muthukumarana.Picture 071

This monthly afternoon soiree is held at the iconic ‘Lounge’, complementing the entire affair. The soft fabrics and dark wood of the lounge creates an ambience of elegance and luxury; the glass panels showcasing the tranquil ‘Grand Lawn’ induce the perfect place to escape the stress of modern day life and enjoy a relaxed Japanese high tea. 

Waters Edge, established as the only venue to host a Japanese high tea in Colombo, caters to a vivid range of customers with delicacies including some of the renowned dishes varying from Tekkamaki – Tuna role, Kappamaki – Cucumber role, Chicken Yakitori – Chicken skewers, Yassai Gomae – Vegetable mix dish, Harumaki – Spring rolls, Shogayaki – Pork with ginger, Okonomiyaki – Japanese pizza, Kakiage tempura to Batter fried vegetables, and delicious Chicken katsu – Chicken cutlet etc. For the sweet tooth a selection of sweets such as Kushi Dango – Sweet glutinous rice cakes, a range of green tea infused desserts and an array of sweet treats awaits your indulgence. Thirst quenching flavoured tea, authentic Japanese Green Tea and iced coffee are some of the delightful beverages served to truly sum up your high tea experience.
