The Laya Seafood Fiesta is hosted by Laya Beach Wadduwa, the delightful beach front resort south of Colombo that kicks off the fish harvest season every year, to herald this significant event for those who live and love the sea.
On 18 November from 7 p.m. to midnight, this one off festival in the middle of November creates an atmosphere of a real fishing village showcasing all of the fish produce that the fishing villages along the coast create as a livelihood for so many families and a rich repast for visitors to the Laya and other hotels along our island shoreline.
To create a sense of gaiety and celebration of the bounty of the sea, live calypso music will provide a lilting backdrop to lively modern dancing to keep you entertained throughout the evening making your personal seafood journey resonate with the rhythmic sound of the waves.
Like many local restaurants along the coast, Laya Beach is popular among many for its weekend BBQ on the beach. On this occasion too, the various action stations will demonstrate live cooking where you get to pick your own favorite catch of fish. Those who come to party at the Fiesta will enjoy Red Mullet, Seer, Cuttlefish, Karallo, Thalapath, Sea Crab, Paraw, Prawns, Hadallo, and Baby Octopus to name a few delicacies.
Laya Beach & its Chefs are ready and raring to go, to turn out a smorgasbord of marine feasting that will titillate your taste buds and lead to an evening of gay abandon, a fiesta that will be memorable for the whole family. Call Ranil on 0768282410 or Akram on 0768282408 to make early reservations.
