The Culinary Art and Food Expo is one of the biggest in Asia and has been recognised by the world association of chef’s societies and judged by WACS approved top professionals from many parts of the world. This event has been the platform in identifying the talents of the young chefs who have been selected at many international events such as food Olympics, global chefs’ challenges and even the culinary world cup. The 17th battle of the chefs 2017 was held from 28-31 July with chefs competing for gold, silver and bronze in one platform.
Mövenpick Hotel Colombo, which took part for the first time, achieved an impressive number of 11 medals, with the team walking away with one gold medal and ten bronze medals.
Anishka Pinnawala achieved the gold medal for the I.D.L cocktail competition, while the rest of the team participated in various categories ranging from petit fours or pralines, cake dressing, new Sri Lankan cuisine, plated appetisers and Nescafe creative coffee to name a few.
