New flavours for the New Year at The Bayleaf

  • New menu launched
A new menu, under the creative culinary expertise of Chef Saroj has been launched for the New Year at The Bayleaf - serving   Colombo’ s finest Italian cuisine. Chef Saroj with years of experience in many fine restaurants overseas, brings his passion and creativity, where he creates authentic Italian flavours for diners. His dishes are the perfect combination of Italian cuisine and fine dining, which not only pleases the taste buds, but also the eye of the beholder. The Bayleaf is situated in, a 100 year old grand colonial mansion, with an equally impressive garden. Here guests can gather for easygoing lunches, afternoon tea, early evening bites, aperitifs and dinner on the open-air terrace, cool garden or in the quiet private rooms set on the upper level. The menu is strong in fresh produce and the flavours of an Italian kitchen. House specialties include fresh handmade pastas, wood fired pizzas, as well as classic Italian mains and desserts. Sample dishes include and anti pasta range with fresh greens and a selection of aubergines, avocado, prawns, smoked salmon in a variety of Italian dishes. The fresh pasta range offers daily made tagliatelle, ravioli, lasagna and fettuccine with vegetarian toppings, mushroom, tossed with crab meat, honey glazed ham, tuna for an unforgettable pasta experience! I Pesci – the seafood dishes offer misto de pesce- grilled shoe lobster, jumbo prawns, seer fish and calamari for a seafood delight, along with filetto di salmon- grilled salmon steak on red pepper chutney and saffron sauce. The meats offer Italian preparations of stinco di agnello - oven braised lamb shank, bistecca alla griglia - marinated grilled T bone steak and more. The Italian dessert delicacies are the traditional tiramisu, zabaglione, cassata Sicilian along with pannacotta and the always popular baked Alaska. Complementing the fine dining menu is the ‘Retro Bar’ offering  a bold, contemporary cocktails, wine and a premium spirit list that weaves together classic influences and local flavours in new and exciting combinations with an inventive twist - served frozen  or stirred. A selection of non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. Its distinctive cosmopolitan elegance that provides guests with a stylish, informal meeting place for pre or post-dinner drinks or a relaxing evening listening to contemporary smooth sounds.  The pivotal point of the Retro Bar is its LED light feature, which radiates different colours and hues to fit your mood. As before, The Bayleaf experience is rounded out with its authentic Italian flavours, the homely feeling of dining in the grand mansion and the quality of service.
