The hospitality industry of Sri Lanka is getting ready to experience and enjoy the creativeness and innovations of bartenders in Sri Lanka, on 22 July at Waters Edge. The competition has been an annual event for the past 24 years.
The Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association, together with the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and Tourist Hotels Association, are the principal organisers of the National Bartenders Competition 2016. The joint sponsors of the event are Imperial Beverages Ltd., Lion Brewery and Sunquick of Scan Products.
The Bartenders Competition has been ingrained into the cocktail industry today and it is a popular event worldwide. This type of competition can has a great impact on the standards of the local food and beverage sector and its enhancement in the international arena. The 2016 competition is being held in eight regions as shown below.
A seminar and competition is held in each region. The morning session is an enhancement of beverage knowledge and how to create one’s own beverage designs. In the afternoon it is a chance for innovation seeing bartenders create their own ideas with beverages. Sunquick plays an important role in this exercise.
Sunquick, a leader in the squash and cordial industry of Sri Lanka, has a niche in its involvement as it is sponsoring this national gala event for the first time. The organisers began the preliminary competition on 1 June and their schedule is to cover eight major regions in the country, giving opportunities to a wide spectrum of bartenders. The lucky winners at the Grand Final will get the chance to represent Sri Lanka at the International Bartenders Competition 2016 and Asia Pacific Competition in Singapore.
Bartending is an art. It is not just making a drink; it’s where creativeness begins, a perfect blend of flavours, aromas, techniques and creativeness in order to present an extraordinary cocktail.
