The best of Vietnamese cuisine at Cinnamon Lakeside

This month of February Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo showcases Vietnamese cuisine in all its splendour, vibrant colours and character. Diners are invited to journey to the country of Vietnam with an eclectic dinner buffet spread.  Each dish has a distinct flavour which reflects the many elements of Vietnamese culture.  

Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisines worldwide. Its recipes include a variety of ingredients such as lemongrass, ginger, Vietnamese mint, long coriander, Saigon cinnamon, bird’s eye chilli, lime, basil leaves and much more.

Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of oil and reliance on herbs and vegetables, making it a healthy choice.  A balance between fresh herbs and meats is achieved with the selective use of spices to create the perfect taste.

The Vietnamese buffet at The Dining Room starts off with a chicken salad with seasonal herbs, a sour and spicy shrimp and squid salad along with some minced beef or mushroom soup, amongst many other appetisers.

Amongst some of the famous main dishes created by the chefs this month are the traditional fresh noodle with beef, spring roll with crab, deep fried shrimp paste with sugar cane, roasted duck with leaf from Lang Son Province, grilled beef in bamboo, grilled fish with galangal, sautéed noodle with seafood. Desserts such as the banana sweet cake, marmalade lotus and the lotus or corn sweet soup are must haves.
