Trekurious, Sri Lanka’s premium experiential travel portal introduces new offering to travellers to Sri Lanka with the launch of celebrity cricket experiences, tailored for those who love the gentleman’s game and the personalities who play it.
Trekurious brings to discerning fans a wide array of experiences to choose from, including a dinner hosted by Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardena and 2012 ICC Cricketer of the Year Kumar Sangakkara – at their restaurant, Ministry of Crab; a golf experience with the duo at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and a spin bowling and net session hosted by Sri Lankan legend, Muttiah Muralitharan at the SSC. “Since our launch coincides with the T20 World Cup, we wanted to offer once-in-a-lifetime experiences for cricket fans who are visiting the country for the tournament,” says Trekurious CEO Rukmankan Sivaloganathan. These experiences will not only give the participants a chance to interact with these legends of the game but also help Mahela, Kumar, and Murali to raise funds for their charities, the Mahela Foundation and the Foundation of Goodness.
The Mahela Foundation is a grassroots cricket charity committed to the development of sport in underprivileged areas of Sri Lanka, while the Foundation of Goodness aims to empower rural Sri Lankan communities through development.
“We are excited to have launched Trekurious here in Sri Lanka. The experiential travel market has enormous potential both here and in the rest of Asia. Our aim is to help realise this potential by making premium tours and activities more accessible to travellers,” says Rukmankan.
With the backing of their investors, Trekurious is confident of successfully scaling into more markets and plans to expand into India and other Asian markets in the next few months.
Founded by Rukmankan Sivaloganathan and Dilendra Wimalasekere, Trekurious is an online platform where you can find and book once-in-a-lifetime, premium experiences; from curated tours with celebrated experts – such as authors, historians, and architects – to dinner with sports stars and celebrities.
The start-up, placed third at the recently held Venture Engine VC competition, also announced a first round of funding from a group of investors that include Blue Ocean Ventures, Sri Lanka’s first seed fund that was founded by Rajan Anandan and Prajeeth Balasubramaniam, and the Lankan Angel Network.
