Looking at the world map, one could say Mexico and Sri Lanka are located worlds apart, which is the truth as both countries are located approximately 16,500 km from one another. Culturally, both nations are very different but one thing above all unites the two; that is the obsession with spicy food. Mexicans and we Sri Lankans adore our chillies! To the point where one could also assume it runs through our veins.
The use of chilli and spices to flavour food is a fine art, and both Mexican and Sri Lankan cuisines are great examples of it. From 3 to 11 September, ‘The Culinary Capital of Colombo’ The Kingsbury will be taking you on a spicy culinary journey through Mexico and here to guide you is one of its renowned ambassadors, Chef Gabriela Ruiz Lugo. Today, she runs her own restaurant in Tabasco, Mexico called Gourmet MX.
