A group of 100 Chinese tourists left Shanghai yesterday for Colombo in a further boost to the revival of the industry.
“This is the largest single group to leave from Shanghai to Sri Lanka,” Sri Lanka’s Honorary Consul in Shanghai Anura Fernando told the Daily FT.
Last week the first set of tourists from Shanghai arrived, preceded by 117 from Guanzhou, China who were the first tour group to arrive in Sri Lanka post-COVID.
Fernando said the latest group on arrival will stand a chance to win two prizes – a blue sapphire and an iPhone via a lucky draw.
