Welcomes criticism but urges people to be patient and compassionate on slight delays     Addressing Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe requested the nation to be patient and “compassionate on delays here and there” during the implementation of the 100-day program. Praising constructive criticism, Wickremesinghe said: “Some criticise the 100-day program. We welcome your criticism and respect your opinion. It is true that there has been a delay of a day or two to deliver some promises but it is important to consider the correct delivery made at least a day or two later. This is a new journey for all of us and we should be cautious and disciplined moving forward. We have eliminated nepotism and power centred around one person.” Prime Minister Wickremesinghe added: “The increasing cost of living is a concern. The previous Government failed to listen to the people. The common candidate managed to liberate the nation from its grasp. The 100-day program is aimed at reducing your cost of living. We will take immediate action to appoint commissions mentioned in the 100-day program. The appointments will be made with the agreement of the members of this House. We will talk to political party leaders as well.” Disclosing a decision taken at the Cabinet meeting held last Wednesday, the Prime Minister said: “We decided not to allow the casinos of Lake Leisure Ltd., Water Front Properties Ltd. and The Queensbury Leisure Ltd. We will also work with financial discipline. All including the President and myself are committed to meeting this.”
