One hundred Nenasalas (wisdom outlets) will be declared open today (18) and tomorrow (19) in view of the anniversary of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s ascendancy to the presidency. The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) says that these Nenasalas will be set up under the ‘1,000 Nenasala project’ of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. These new 100 Nenasalas represent all the districts in the island, said Nenasala Program Head Athula Pushpakumara. In line with the instructions of Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the inauguration of the 100 Nenasalas will take place over two days. ICTA hopes to complete the target of setting up 1,000 Nenasalas before the end of the year. The 900th Nenasala will be declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Narahenpita Abhayarama Temple today (18). The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s 2014 Access to Learning award for the World’s Best Rural Information Technology Program was won by Sri Lanka’s Nenasala project. The Nenasala project secured the first place from among 150 projects operative in 110 countries.
