14th edition of textile exhibition by CEMS-Global USA kicks off in Colombo today

CEMS-Global USA’s 14th Sri Lankan edition of its globally renowned Textile Series of Exhibitions spanning three days will begin today at SLECC, Colombo 10.

CEMS-Global USA Group CEO S. S. Sarwar said the event will bring together leading industry players, showcasing textile and garment machinery, yarn, fabric, trims, accessories, dyestuff, and chemicals.

The event is set to be a vital platform for Sri Lanka’s apparel industry, fostering connections between manufacturers and global suppliers. Speaking at the press conference, Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) Secretary General Yohan Lawrence, emphasised the significance of the exhibition in bridging gaps within the industry.

“We are pleased to welcome CEMS-Global once again for their 14th edition. This year, it’s not just a single exhibition — we have three consecutive exhibitions designed to give Sri Lankan manufacturers direct access to global suppliers of fabrics, yarn, machinery, and other critical industry inputs. While larger companies may have direct supplier networks, many smaller manufacturers struggle to explore the latest advancements. This exhibition provides a crucial platform for them to connect, innovate, and grow,” he said.

Sri Lanka’s apparel sector is recognised globally for its ethical, sustainable, and innovative practices. As the industry evolves, staying ahead of technological advancements and material innovations is critical. Lawrence commended CEMS-Global’s role in providing this opportunity, calling it a “game-changer for the industry.”

Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA) Chairperson Rajitha Jayasuriya, highlighted the event’s role in empowering exporters and SMEs.

“SLAEA represents over 70% of Sri Lanka’s large- and medium-scale apparel exporters, and we are proud to support this initiative. Exhibitions like this provide a vital space for SMEs to directly access new technologies and market opportunities, helping them compete in the global arena. As Sri Lanka aims to achieve its $ 8 billion export target, such platforms are invaluable in strengthening our industry’s position,” she noted.

The exhibition, running for three days, promises to be a key industry event, fostering collaboration and business growth.
