The Working Committee of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) has decided to suggest four major proposals to the upcoming General Assembly.
Accordingly, the UNP Working Committee decided to legalise and empower the newly-established Leadership Council, make the party statements in one voice, abolish the executive presidency and demand the Government relieve people from the escalating cost of living.
The UNP Working Committee approved a 100-day organisation development program, named Janajaya.
The Working Committee also proposed to name 2014 as the year the Government would be ousted and to continue the agitations throughout the year.
The party will hold its General Assembly on 21 December and several important decisions will be taken at the meeting, Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said Tuesday.
