2023 kicks off with healthy workers’ remittances 

Sri Lanka has begun 2023 with a healthy inflow of workers’ remittances year on year though lower month on month.

As per CBSL data, workers remittances in January amounted to $ 438 million, up from 69% from a year ago. However it is lower in comparison to the previous month (December) inflow of $ 476 million.

In 2022, full year workers’ remittances were $ 3.78 billion, down by 31% from the previous year.
