The Vehicle Importers’ Association of Lanka is sending a 30-member delegation led by its President Sampath Merenchige to Myanmar on business and investment promotion from 10-16 September 2012.

The main purpose of this visit is to find new markets for the sale of vehicles in Myanmar as vehicle sales in Sri Lanka have dropped drastically. Due to this the vehicle dealers find it difficult to manage the vehicles sales business.

In order to survive in the business and to contribute to the country’s much-needed foreign exchange earnings, the association decided to take this initiative, with great expectations.

The delegates are expected to meet three key Myanmar Government Ministers – the Union Minister for Rail Transportation, the Union Minister for Commerce and the Union Minister for Industry, as well as the Director General of the Customs Department.

They are also scheduled to meet Union Myanmar Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industries (UMFCCI) officials for one-on-one meetings with vehicle importers in Myanmar and host of other leading businessmen during the visit.
