The Government said yesterday that over four million COVID vaccine doses had been imported so far and an equal number was expected by next month.
State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) Chairman Dr. Prasanna Gunasena told yesterday’s special COVID Committee meeting that four million vaccines had been imported and ‘at least’ another four million doses were ‘expected’ in July. With the help of impending stock, a higher percentage of people can be vaccinated, SPC Chief added.
According to the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit, the first dose of the vaccine had been administered on 2.39 million people between 29 January and 17 June whilst 748,573 had got both doses.
