53 LLRC recommendations added to National Action Plan

Cabinet has approved the inclusion of 53 recommendations under the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) into the National Plan of Action. These newly included recommendations deal with a range of issues including human rights, resettlement, refugees and problems faced by the Muslim community in the north and east, according to Cabinet spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The proposal, which was made by President Rajapaksa, noted that the recommendations were not initially included as they overlap other recommendations or form part of the recommendations contained in the National Human Rights Action Plan. “The new integration fully represents the recommendations stated in the LLRC report,” Rambukwella added.
