The Government will start a program next week to vaccinate around 8,000 Sri Lankans who are going overseas for employment.
The initiative is spearheaded jointly by the Labour Ministry and the Health Ministry.
The departing Lankans will be given the Pfizer vaccine which is required for the countries to which these persons are headed for employment.
The workers have already been issued with visas to the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordon, the Maldives, South Korea, Seychelles, Singapore, Malaysia, Israel, and Cyrus.
The vaccination program will take place next week, health officials who met with Labour Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said yesterday. Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi was also present at the meeting.
