A total of 81 first-time MPs will take oaths today.

Of these, 65 are elected, while 16 MPs have been appointed from the National List.

The youngest among them is 25 year old SLPP Nuwara Eliya District MP and State Minister of Estate Housing and Community Infrastructure Facilities Jeevan Thondaman, while at the age of 87, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader and Trincomalee District ITAK MP Rajavarothiam Sampanthan is the oldest MP.
