$ 85 m from ADB for Trincomalee facelift

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to extend $ 85 million to provide a new look for Trincomalee via an Integrated Urban Development Project.

The overall objective of the Integrated Urban Development Project is to improve planning and for the delivery of priority infrastructure and local services in the Trincomalee Urban Development area.

The project will also encourage private sector investment and operation through promotion programs.

Last week Cabinet approved the project on a proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development.

Cabinet approval was granted for the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development to conduct a feasibility study on this matter and submit a detailed project report.
