The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board (AAIB) has paid Rs. 100 million as compensation to 6,459 farmers for their crop damages in the 2024 Yala season.
According to the AAIB, 90% of compensation has been paid to cover 5,246 acres of damaged crops.
AAIB Chairman Pemasiri Jasingh Arachchi said that compensation payments had already been credited to accounts of the respective farmers.
According to the Chairman, farmers whose compensation has not yet been received after crop damages can appeal and steps have been taken to expedite releasing balance compensation payments for the farmers who have not received their payments yet.
